Whitley County is served by seven (7) state highways* and three (3) U.S. highways**. The county is also easily accessible to Interstate 69 and Interstate 80-90 (toll road).

Fort Wayne International Airport is located 10 miles east of Whitley County. The FWA is served by 5 major carriers: Allegient Air, American, Continental, Delta, Northwest, and United. FWA’s Air Trade Center is located on 450 acres on the southwest side of the FWA 3,400 acre complex.

Access via Water
Whitley County has direct access to Burns Harbor via the U.S. 30 corridor (125 miles). Burns International Harbor, located 30 miles east of Chicago on Lake Michigan, is one of the largest inland harbors in the world. This 560-acre harbor offers year-round barge access to Midwestern markets and the Gulf of Mexico through the Inland Waterway System and direct access to the Atlantic Ocean via the Saint Lawrence Seaway. Burns International Harbor services heavy industry, light manufacturing and warehousing businesses with tenant services including tug, barge fleeting, railroad switching, waste disposal/sanitation, security and fire protection.
